| Frequently Asked Questions- Dial-up Account Booklet |
| Question:
I have more than one e-mail address, how do I access my other address?
Answer: To access an e-mail address other than the primary account, you will need to set up some sort of e-mail software other than Netscape Navigator 3.01. Once you have obtained and installed the other e-mail software, you will configure it using the account information found in the table on page 2. Question: Sometimes my Internet connection will just disconnect, why does this happen? Answer: There are many reasons why this happens. The most common reason is that you were idle for too long. If you are idle for 15 minutes the system will think that you are done using the Internet and will hang up. Other causes are line noise and old phone lines. If you have either of these please contact the phone company for assistance. Question: The Internet seems slow, what is going on? Answer: This usually happens during "prime time" (5 PM - 11 PM) and is the result of so many people trying to use the Internet at once. Usually this affects the most popular sites, because everyone wants to see them! Question: I am having connection problems but usually do not, how do I fix this? Answer: 90% of the time, simply re-booting the computer and the modem will solve connection problems. Question: I have MAC OS8 or Windows NT, how do I get online? Answer: MAC OS8 has a built in Internet Assistant that will allow you to configure your computer. Windows NT is very robust and has many different ways to configure your machine, please consult the manual that came with your copy of NT. Question: I have Windows 95 and during the install it asked me for system disks, but I didn't have them. Now my computer won't re-boot properly! What should I do? Answer: This happens rarely, but if it does, call NCI technical support, obtain a trouble ticket number, and bring your computer to our business location for service
