Windows NT 4.0 stores
its networking information in the Network control panel. The following
instructions will help you change your settings to use the PeRKInet service.
- Click on the Start button.
Select Settings..., then select Control
Panel.
- Double-click to open the Network
control panel.
- Change to Protocols
tab at the top of the window.
- Select the TCP/IP Protocol
by single-clicking it, then press the Properties...
button below.
- The window that opens has a set of tabs across the top.
The first tab is titled IP Address.
Choose Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server.
- Change to the tab titled DNS.
Enter your cable modem login in the Host
Name: box. It's listed on page 2 of this manual, and is also
written on a sticker that's attached to the back of your cable modem.
In the Domain: box, enter northcoast.com.
- Below, there is a section titled DNS
Service Search Order. Press the Add...
button. A small window opens. Enter 208.25.112.20,
then hit the Add button in the new
window. The number will appear in the larger box below. Press the
Add... button again and enter 208.25.112.1.
Press the Add button to add the number
to the list.
- Click on OK, then on
OK on the next screen. Windows NT
will ask to restart your computer. Click on Yes
to do so.
- Your computer is now configured to use PeRKInet.
