LAN / Firewall Support
Available for both 256 and Professional Users. PeRKInet access for your Local Area Network, supporting 'hubbed' workstations. (You must supply a 10base-T Ethernet Hub with open uplink port.) If you are using multiple PCs on a network, we offer a NAT (Network Address Translator) for an additional $50 setup and $25/month to NCI. The NAT attaches to a single-user cable modem and supports your entire network. Benefit: also acts as a firewall and it will work with multiple computers on your network. You can also add additional workstations to your LAN without incurring additional NCI/Cox fees. Drawback: If you use Internet telephony software (placing voice telephone calls via the Internet) your software must work without a static IP.
Setup / Installation
Setup includes installation and configuration of an ISA Ethernet card and cable modem on your PC, an orientation pack, and up to 1 hour on-site service. An open ISA slot must be available in your PC. PCI Ethernet cards can be used, but are not supplied by us. Macintosh users must supply their own Ethernet card. The 1-hour on-site service is available upon full payment of the setup fee. Subsequent on-site service is available at $60/hour for user-induced malfunctions, including, but not limited to: altered network settings, Operating System crashes, downloaded viruses, or other events not within our control. (Basic phone support is still available.) Cable Outlets If you have a cable outlet, you may buy additional cabling and a splitter on your own to reach your computer, or consider having Cox Cable install an outlet near your computer. $25 Cable Outlet installed by Cox Cable $12.50 for each additional outlet if installed at time of initial Cox Cable service hookup

Billing
Data delivery charges are billed by Cox Communications for the month in advance Premier Internet account is billed by Northcoast Internet for the month in advance PeRKInet setup fee is collected in advance of delivery. Setup fee is non-refundable.
Billing Example
Example 1: You are a home user currently subscribing to Cox Cable's Limited Basic plan ($8) and receive unmetered dial-up access on Northcoast Internet's Premier account ($21.95). To subscribe to PeRKInet 256, you add $8 to your monthly bill (excluding one-time setup and deposits expenses). The $8 PeRKInet charge appears on your regular Cox Cable bill. You continue receiving your $21.95 bill from Northcoast Internet. Example 2: You are a home user currently subscribing to Cox Cable's Expanded Basic plan (approximately $31) and subscribe to a different Internet provider. You cancel your current Internet service and subscribe to Northcoast Internet and PeRKInet 256. You now have Northcoast Internet's unmetered Premier account ($21.95) and PeRKInet 256 ($8, excluding one-time setup and deposits expenses). The $8 PeRKInet charge appears on your regular Cox Cable bill and Northcoast Internet bills you $21.95 for the Premier account.
