December 5, 2023 - Every year, Colam Entreprendre highlights initiatives taken by Sonepar's associates that have an impact on environmental and social issues.
This year, among 42 initiatives entered, North Coast has been honored with the Circularity Award at the Colam Sustainability Awards, the first award ever for the USA!
North Coast has set up an initiative to reduce the quantity of new wooden pallets and reels purchased by reusing used pallets and reels delivered to job sites. In practical terms, customers contact our sales representatives to arrange for North Coast teams to collect pallets and reels from our worksites. Pallet recovery is organized using a reverse logistics system to reduce carbon emissions. The material is then transported to the distribution center (CDC) for sorting.
Damaged pallets are returned to North Coast's supplier and rehabilitated for re-circulation. Reels and pallets are reused in the CDC for storage and for dispatching customer orders.
This initiative reduces the need for new wooden pallets and reels, as well as customer waste collection costs.
