October 11, 2023 - A high school in Bellingham, Washington needed a major
lighting upgrade as its system was more than 20 years old. North
Coast worked with the district leaders and Puget Sound Energy
(PSE) to upgrade their lighting system to new LED fixtures and
lamps, as well as add automatic lighting controls. Occupancy
and daylight sensors were installed to conserve energy when
rooms were not in use and when they were adequately
daylighted.
Results
& Savings:
Students and staff members were thrilled with the brighter lights! The sensors also provided staff with peace of mind as they didn’t have to remember to turn the lights off in order to save energy.
As a result of the lighting upgrades, as well as incentive rebates from PSE’s Business Lighting Incentive Program, the estimated annual savings come out to approximately $38,000 in their annual energy bill, as well as around $40,000 in annual maintenance savings!
